“In our imperfections we may find our wisdom, in our challenges we may discover our strengths, and in life’s darker moments we may see unexpected gifts of light and hope.” -Peggy Chappell
I bring together my training and experience along with wisdom and compassion to serve individuals and organizations seeking pathways to greater well-being.
I offer workshops and consultation to schools, organizations, and general audiences. My services also include coaching for individuals.
I am trained in the field of positive psychology and the science of well-being. I completed Mindful Schools “Educators Essential Training” and the program in “Positive Psychology Coaching” through the Whole Being Institute and have served as a Teaching Assistant for “Crafting the Resilient Life” course of study through the Kripalu Center.
Prior to my career as a consultant, I gained over 30 years of professional experience working with children, parents, and teachers as a teacher and school administrator, and child and family therapist. I was employed as clinical social worker in pediatric psychiatry at Yale New Haven Hospital and during that time held an appointment of clinical instructor of social work at Yale Child Study Center. During my 20 year tenure at The Country School in Madison, CT I held many positions including Lower School Director.
I hold an B.A. degree from Smith College where I trained as a teacher, a MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also completed a post masters Social Work Clinical Fellowship from the Yale Child Study Center.
I am the mother of a young adult daughter and served as caregiver for my elderly mother during her final years. During this time I completed C.A.R.E.S Level I certification in Dementia Care through the Alzheimer’s Association.
I bring together my professional expertise and trainings as well as my deep respect for the desire of individuals and organizations to continually grow. While my approach is grounded in the science of positive psychology, teachings from neuroscience on the process of change, and the study of well-being, it is executed from the heart of my experience and our shared humanity.
Whether working with you as an individual or an organization, my approach includes engaging in dialogue to clarify your needs, vision and goals for our work together; offering perspective and insight; and providing tools, information, and accountability. My work is about looking forward, seeing possibilities, and enhancing well-being.
