How often do we feel that we are “at our best”? What does “our best” mean or look like? Are there ways we can purposefully move toward our highest functioning? Over the past few decades, these questions have been a driving force behind the field of positive psychology. Fortunately for all of us, through the application of scientific method to the study of human flourishing, psychologists have now identified factors that contribute to a meaningful and fulfilling life. One particularly powerful finding in this body of research is the impact of identifying and applying personal character strengths.
I had the opportunity to fully explore this concept in an article published in Natural Awakenings. Please find the article on pages 18-19 and enjoy the entire issue focused on Positive Psychology.
